How concrete mile posts move isn’t such a mystery when members of the Friends of the Bendigo–Kilmore Rail Trail are involved!
Victorian Railways mile posts were originally installed along railway lines to provide steam locomotive drivers with distance references along their journeys.
Replica posts have been produced by Friends member Ken Hanson for the entire length of the former Wandong–Heathcote–Sandhurst Railway, for installation along the rail trail.

The posts along the O’Keefe Rail Trail section have already been installed, with the remaining posts being stored for the proposed Wallan to Heathcote Rail Trail.
When it became necessary to relocate the stored posts, members pitched in to get the job done. There was certainly no need for a gym workout that week!
