Last week saw eleven FBKRT members get away together, and spend a memorable three days riding the Great Southern Rail Trail in Gippsland Victoria.

The Gippsland Spring weather was very kind to our Friends, to really appreciate all that area had to offer.

Based in Foster and Toora, the group were able to ride most of the trail:

  • Day 1 from Foster to Port Welshpool and return.
  • Day 2 from Meeniyan to Leongatha and return.
  • Day 3 from Foster to Meeniyan and return.

The trail was well maintained with various points of interest as well as places for coffee and lunch. It was perfect weather for riding, although a head-on wind riding back on the first day proved quite challenging.

This scenic trail provided coastal views, rich farm land, and lush green vegetation.

The wildlife did not disappoint with an abundance of birds and echidnas.

What a great week with lots of fun and laughter.

Everyone is looking forward to the next Friends’ adventure.
