To assist the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail community group providing additional O’Keefe Rail Trail facilities, as well as advocating for extending this trail to Wallan and Rushworth, individuals can become fundraisers. This is simple, by making container deposits via the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme.
There are three Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) zones and operators in Victoria. https://www.vic.gov.au/container-deposit-scheme

Victorian CDS areas
For the Victorian northern area zone, Visy provides reverse vending machines, utilises ‘Over the Counter’ specific CDS businesses, and CDS depot sites. For CDS locations, use link https://cdsvic.org.au/locations and enter a post code to search an area.
Information, and how to:
- Need info on how the CDS works – https://www.visy.com/services/container-deposit-scheme
- Download the Visy CDS Vic North app (via Apple Store or Google Play) – https://www.visy.com/services/container-deposit-scheme/cds-vic-north-app
- If not using the app, use a stored specific barcode on your phone (or printed on a piece of paper?) that is related to your selected registered CDS Vic North community group, the “Friends of the Bendigo to Kilmore Rail Trail Inc:”. Note: FBKRT is not currently registered in the other two Victorian zones or interstate CDS schemes.
