As 2026 rapidly approaches its end, the members of the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail got together over a long lunch at Omari Bendigo today for an end of year celebration. Thirty-five members shared tall tales and laughs about the events of 2026. A few members also ignored the weather forecast, and rode from Junortoun to enjoy the lunch.
A lot has been both achieved and enjoyed by the Friends this year, and to see so many sharing the day was terrific.
As is now a tradition at the end of year gathering, the Friends dip into their wallets and purses, as the yellow bucket hat is passed around. More than $300 was collected, and this will go to a worthy charity or group (to be announced and presented), somewhere in the vicinity of the geography of the trail.
A special thanks to Judy McLaren for making the lunch happen.
