Records were smashed at the 2026 Bendigo Ford Fun Run on Sunday 1 March, with an incredible 4,000 registrations across five events – the largest turnout in the event’s history.
The Friends of the Bendigo–Kilmore Rail Trail were proud to once again play a key role on the day, organising and staffing the three official Water Stations along the main course. Sections of this course were used as the route for the 21.1km Half Marathon, 10km Fun Run, 5km Fun Run and 3km Short Course, with the 1km Kids Dash held on a separate course.

While the runners set a cracking pace on the course, it was just as hectic behind the tables at the hydration stations. Volunteers worked tirelessly to keep up with the constant demand for cups of water and electrolyte drinks, as wave after wave of participants passed through, a testament to the record numbers and strong participation across all distances.

Despite the rush, it was immensely pleasing for our volunteer team to hear the words of appreciation mentioned by many of the runners, perhaps recognising the frantic efforts required to keep everyone hydrated and moving safely.

A huge thank you to our dedicated Friends members who gave their time and energy to support this fantastic community event. Your contribution not only assisted thousands of participants but also helped showcased central Bendigo to a record crowd.

After packing up each of the Water Stations, it was time for the volunteers to relax a little with a coffee plus scones, jam and cream at the Tram Café.
