Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail

Linking central Victoria via the old railway line

Melbourne Metro trails

What a day it was, what an experience had by those who rode the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail’s September ride activity, the Craigieburn to Southern Cross Station (SCS) Melbourne trail ride on Saturday 26 September.

The plan was to start at Craigieburn and use the Craigieburn Bypass Trail, the Metropolitan Ring Rd Trail, the Merri Creek Trail, and the Capital City Trail, from which a great day’s riding unfolded…one to remember! The lunch break was enjoyed at Ceres (Brunswick), a hidden gem in suburbia, with the ride’s end destination of SCS being safely achieved by 3pm to catch a V/Line train.

As well as experiencing these off-road metro trails, it was also interesting for those involved to be aware of a possible connection with the Friends group’s vision of a continious rail trail between Bendigo and Wallan (and Craigieburn?).
