One great escape from your lounge room and TV on a winter’s day, is a walk, run, or on your bike with friends out on the O’Keefe Rail Trail. Now is the time…. Axedale, Longlea, Junortoun, East Bendigo, and Bendigo are the places where you can join the trail.
Winter mists and fogs, dew on the paddocks, bird calls from the surrounding forest, sun filtering through trees, a wallaby or kangaroo can all be a memorable experiences. From the river bank, viewing the flowing stream, paddling ducks, perhaps seeking out the sight of a platypus, picnic on the new seats and tables at the Campaspe River Reserve Axedale, is what family fun can be all about.
Calling into the Axedale General Store for a hot snack or take away, and just next door enjoy a coffee and cake, a wine and meal at the Axedale Tavern is another option. Standing around the open fire, reflecting on the ride, “Which rail trail next?”, or chatting with publican Garry about Axedale’s new ‘Tunnel’ attraction, can be a weekend or week day experience on the O’Keefe Rail Trail. Not so tough, memorable, and the trail is open 24/7 entry FREE!
