The Rushworth to Murchison Rail Trail project is rolling forward, with the Rushworth community eagerly awaiting this new trail for recreation as well as tourism.
“The project is very close to obtaining all permits and approvals so that the works can proceed,” stated Campaspe Shire council’s Project Manager, Paul Artherson.
The project’s first stage will involve clearing the old railway alignment of vegetation to provide access for construction. Council are working closely with the Victorian Fisheries Association to re-use any large timber for their Waranga Basin Fish Habitat project.
The Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail are working on a proposed related Heathcote Rushworth Trail, linking the above trail when completed to the O’Keefe Rail Trail. Like to support this effort? Contact us, become a member https://bendigokilmorerailtrail.com/contact-us/
