A new O’Keefe Rail Trail facility, as well as urban city cycling and walking, are two features in the current Autumn 2024 edition of the City of Greater Bendigo’s GB magazine.

Council’s funded trail project, to provide new facilities for the O’Keefe Rail Trail at Longlea, aims to improve safety as well as provide this rest stop with new trail user facilities.

The Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail group continues to be the community voice to seek improvements to the rail trail’s facilities. These new Longlea Lane facilities are one result of a number of formal submissions the Friends group has made to the council’s budget process in recent years.

Safe city cycling and walking routes is another featured article in the magazine, “How we’re making it easier to get around Bendigo...”(p.10). The urban section of the O’Keefe Rail Trail is shown on the map as being part of the city’s ‘existing protected network’.
