A successful tree planting project was completed on the O’Keefe Rail Trail at Longlea on 30 October 2011. This was a joint project with the Friends of Kennington Reservoir group and was arranged with the assistance of City of Greater Bendigo council. The planting site was selected on the trail’s bypass section around the former Longlea Railway Station site, now the Peppercorn Park reserve at Longlea. This planting is the second such project conducted by the Friends group on the trail, and is aimed at improving the natural environment of this corridor for trail users.

Job well done: Friends of Kennington Reservoir and the rail trail joined forces for a tree planting at the site of the old Longlea station near Peppercorn Park
