It was Porepunkah, Victoria, where a group of the Friends members headed for a week of riding activities in November.

Being near the Ovens River, Porepunkah showcases some stunning landscapes and provides access to popular destinations such as Mt Buffalo and the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail (M2MRT).

While riding to Mt Buffalo’s Chalet was one member’s choice, most members chose to ride local off-road trails during the week. Bennett’s Trail to Wandiligong, the Great Valley Trail to Harrietville, and the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail to Myrtleford were the main planned rides.

Upon returning from the ride to Myrtleford on the last day’s warm afternoon, some members diverted for a dip in the Ovens and Buckland Rivers to cool off.

Of course, it was not all riding. With dining out, sampling Alpine cider at Nightingales Bros, being amazed at Cafe Fez’s offerings, the Canyon Walk and other social activities, such had the members planning another week of trail riding early in 2024.
