Axe Creek swing bridge vandalised (Jan 4th 2011) – Closed.

At some stage on January 4th, The Axe Creek swing bridge on the O’Keefe Rail Trail was vandalised, and severely damaged. The timber decking has been smashed, creating a hazard, and has subsequently been closed.
The bridge was due to be closed from mid January until mid March to construct the new bridge, so it is unlikely that it will be repaired.
This is a real disappointment for those who were planning a final ride over the bridge prior to its replacement.
