Without a direct O’Keefe Rail Trail link between Heathcote and Tooborac, as yet, the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail group’s Wednesday social ride plan chose to select quite country roads as the alternate to the busy Northern Highway.

The planned ride route

The ride initially encountered a challenging headwind, as the cyclists headed along Dairy Flat Rd. While much chatter took place between riders, at times, uncertainty of direction needed some reassurance for a timely arrival at the Tooborac Hotel for lunch.

The Friends group’s Activity Team leader Judy had the day fully planned, with a lunch break at Tooborac to help revitalise the participants for the return ride back to Heathcote.

Under a clear blue sky, the 43km route had all riders smiling as they returned to the O’Keefe Rail Trail at Herriot St Heathcote. Like to be involved with the Friends group’s monthly ride activities? Becoming a member is easy. Just contact https://bendigokilmorerailtrail.com
