With the Spring season bursting with wattle blooms in central Victoria, Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail members met to cycle along a section of the O’Keefe Rail Trail and the Bendigo Creek Trail.
The monthly ride activity’s destination was the Bendigo Pottery, Australia’s oldest working pottery that was established in the 1850s when Scottish migrant George Duncan Guthrie stumbled upon a local clay deposit.
Weather for the ride turned out to be near perfect for early Spring, with the wattle and wild flowers showcasing the rail trail, making for a colourful experience.
Along the way, member Lindsay Clay explained to the group, at the rail trail’s crossing of Napier Street, how the City of Greater Bendigo council may be able to improve that section.
With much social discussion taking place over coffee and cake at the Bendigo Pottery Cafe, the riders then headed back towards the O’Keefe Rail Trail, completing a great social activity.
The next ride activity will be on Wednesday 27th Sept, on a section of the Bendigo Bushland Trail.
