One of five recently installed interpretive signs on the O’Keefe Rail Trail has attracted the attention of a media publication.
The Bendigo Times featured an article on an unfortunate accident that occurred on New Years Day 1900, which killed three young individuals.
The interpretive sign highlights the accident that involved the collision between a Victorian Railways train and a horse-drawn wagonette at the former railway crossing on McIvor Highway. The sign is located on the now O’Keefe Rail Trail, close by to the accident site.
This sign was donated by R&L Burns of Axedale, with the research and installation undertaken by Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail.
