Bikes on Buses gain popularity

As a support or option for O’Keefe Rail Trail users, the PTV Heathcote-Bendigo bus is fitted with a bike rack to carry two bikes. It is great to see people making good use of the bike rack on this bus.

This particular bus service does not have the MYKI card facility. So be sure to take a credit or dedit card or some cash with you when heading out on the O’Keefe Rail Trail. It could be ‘bike rescue’ that becomes the reason to use the bus!

Whether a planned or unplanned use of this ‘bikes on bus’ service is to happen, access to any of the bus stops is within easy reach of the rail trail. Catching a bus with your bike could just make your day so much more enjoyable!

My husband & I rode the O’Keefe trail one way last weekend & caught the bus back with our bikes on the Sunday morning. Using the bus was fuss free & the driver assisted us with placement of our bikes on the rack. The weather was in our favour & we had an excellent ride enjoying the great trail & all bridges. My only negative comment is I didn’t see many distance markers along the trail as we were heading to Heathcote which I wound have found helpful.
Many thanks for all your efforts creating & maintaining this wonderful trail.

Thank you for your positive comments, Luci, about the trail. Also, it’s great to know that you both enjoyed the experience of taking your bikes on the bus. FYI, there are distance markers located every 5kms, showing kms to the 3 main towns/city. Unfortunately, those markers are coloured grey, hence difficult to be seen by some.
