For May’s ‘Last Wednesday of the Month Ride‘ activity, this was full of different challenges for the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail members.
Beginning on the O’Keefe Rail Trail, the group soon linked onto the Grassy Flat Creek Trail, leading them up to viewing a near dry Kennington Reservoir due to a reconstruction project.
After crossing Condon St, riders continued along the upper reaches of the Creek Trail before then tackling One Tree Hill. The increased gradient had the group spread out, with those first reaching the top enjoying the distant views, whilst the rest huffed and puffed their way up to the ‘summit’!
It was all downhill from there through Spring Gully and along the Back Creek Trail for a welcomed stop at the Tram Cafe to enjoy coffee and scones.
All fuelled up, the riders headed for the Bendigo Creek Trail, Lake Weeroona, then joined the O’Keefe Rail Trail to cycle this trail section to Pratts Park Rd. Saying their farewells, this rounded off an enjoyable social morning for all.
