As time passes, the O’Keefe Rail Trail facilities are being impacted by weather events and aging.
The Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail group members monitor the condition of both the trail itself, as well as its user facilities. Through the effort of past community fundraising, 21 table and seat combined units and bike racks have been provided along the 50kms length of trail.
Assessment of the deteriating timber components on some units had the group deciding to replace such with a recycled plastic product. A high priority were the facilities located at the trail’s Campaspe River reserve area, hence the focus of a planned working bee.
The efforts by members during this past week have seen the timber components removed and the new recycled product installed.
