What are key ingredients to enjoying a day on your bike? Perhaps a well considered route plan, a group of cycling friends, a popular trail, sunny calm weather, and a cafe providing good service and great coffee. Now, if all such are included, then that is a formula for success!

The Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail’s ‘Last Wednesday of the Month Ride’ for November had to be postponed, which was due to inclement weather. Yet the revised ride just one week later ticked all the boxes, being rated highly as a very enjoyable ride.

The ride plan was from Axedale to Heathcote and return on the popular O’Keefe Rail Trail. A coffee break at Heathcote was definitely in Judy’s plan for the group. A day of exceptional weather saw riders headed back west along the rail trail, some stopping at Axedale, and others continuing to Bendigo with smiles all round.
